Terms of Use
Last updated: October 2026
Please read these terms before using any app by Neil Beaver or this website. By downloading or using an app, or by using this website, you agree to be bound by them. Where a section applies to only one app, it says so.
1. Acceptance of terms
By accessing or using the apps or this website, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use them.
2. Licence
We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the apps for your own professional or personal purposes. You may not copy, modify, reverse engineer, distribute, sell, or sublicense any part of an app. You may not use an app for any commercial purpose other than your own driving instruction practice.
All animations, diagrams, illustrations, text, and other content in the apps and on this website belong to us or our licensors and are protected by copyright. You may not reproduce or redistribute them without our written permission.
3. Purchases and subscriptions
Each app is sold separately, and its store listing shows how it is paid for: either a subscription or a one-off purchase. All payments are processed entirely by Apple through the App Store or by Google through Google Play, depending on where you downloaded the app. The price is shown in the app and on its store page before you buy.
Subscriptions. Where an app is sold by subscription:
- Free trial. If a free trial is offered, it converts automatically to a paid subscription at the end of the trial period unless cancelled beforehand.
- Billing. Subscription fees are charged to your Apple ID or Google account at confirmation of purchase and at the start of each renewal period.
- Auto-renewal. Subscriptions renew automatically unless auto-renewal is turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.
- Cancellation. You can manage or cancel your subscription at any time in your Apple ID account settings or in Google Play (Payments & subscriptions). Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period; we do not issue refunds for unused time.
One-off purchases. Where an app is sold for a single payment, you are charged once, at confirmation of purchase. There is no subscription, renewal, or recurring charge.
Refunds. Because purchases are handled by Apple and Google, any refund request must be made to them under their own policies.
The standard terms of the Apple Media Services and Google Play apply to all purchases. We have no access to your payment details and no control over billing.
4. Roads
Your scenes. Scenes and images you create or save in Roads are stored on your own device. We do not receive or keep copies. You are responsible for backing up anything you want to keep, and scenes may be lost if you delete the app or lose or reset your device.
Maps and satellite imagery. Map imagery, satellite imagery, and place search in Roads are provided by Google Maps, and your use of them is also subject to the Google Maps/Google Earth Additional Terms of Service. Imagery may be out of date or inaccurate and is not a substitute for checking a real road layout.
Importing Road Board files. Our import guide describes one way of moving files from the old Road Board app, using third-party software. We do not make or support that software, and we cannot guarantee that the process will work on every device or iOS version. Take a backup before you start, and follow the guide at your own risk.
5. This website
This website is provided for information about our apps and for the Learn To Drive guide. You may read it and link to it freely, and print or share individual pages for personal teaching use, but you may not copy it in bulk or republish it as your own.
The website may link to other sites, including the App Store, Google Play, and Google Maps. We do not control them and are not responsible for their content or practices.
6. Disclaimers and limitation of liability
The apps and this website are provided "as is" without warranty of any kind, express or implied. We do not warrant that they will be error-free, uninterrupted, accurate, or suitable for any particular purpose.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential loss arising from your use of the apps or this website, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such loss. Nothing in these terms limits any liability that cannot be limited by law, or any rights you have as a consumer.
The animations, diagrams, road layouts, imagery and other teaching material in the apps and the guide on this website are teaching aids only. They do not replace official DVSA guidance, the Highway Code, or the professional judgement of a qualified driving instructor.
7. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Scotland. Any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Scottish courts.
8. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. Continued use of the apps or this website after any changes constitutes acceptance of the revised terms. The date at the top of this page will always reflect when the terms were last updated.
